ORI has recently become the official agent for the Italian territory for the US-based company MTR, Membrane Technology and Researc based on Menlo Park, Ca, USA.

MTR’s technology portfolio includes:

  • VaporSep membrane systems for separating hydrocarbons from air and nitrogen
  • Natural gas systems for removing carbon dioxide, C3+ hydrocarbons, nitrogen and water from natural gas
  • Membrane systems for recovering hydrogen
  • Biogas to biomethane upgrade systems using membrane technology

MTR’s custom-designed membrane systems are employed at more than 100 petrochemical and natural gas processing plants throughout the world. Their customers include leading oil and chemical companies such as Basell, BP, DuPont, Eastman Chemical, ExxonMobil, Formosa Plastics, Huntsman, 3M, OxyVinyls, SABIC, Samsung, Solvay, Sinopec and the Westlake Group.

Membrane Technology and Research, Inc. (MTR) develops membranes, membrane modules, and membrane processes for industrial separations. The company was founded in 1982 as a research and development company and has been supplying membranes for commercial applications since 1990. Their capabilities include membrane and module manufacturing, process and system design, project engineering, and commissioning services.
The company has sales offices in Houston, Texas and Brussels, Belgium and agents worldwide.

MTR’s custom-designed membrane systems are employed at more than 100 petrochemical and natural gas processing plants throughout the world. The company’s primary product lines include:

VaporSep technology for separating hydrocarbons from air and nitrogen. VaporSep systems are widely used to recover valuable monomers from olefin-containing nitrogen purge gas streams in polyethylene and polypropylene plants. VaporSep systems are also used to recover VCM and other hydrocarbons from purge streams, for example ethylene from EO and VAM production.

MTR’s membrane-based natural gas treatment processes. The technology is used to remove carbon dioxide and/or hydrogen sulfide from natural gas, for the removal of nitrogen from high-nitrogen-content natural gas and to remove(C3+) hydrocarbons from natural gas, for example to condition fuel gas.

Membrane systems for recovering hydrogen. MTR supplies membrane based systems for recovering purified hydrogen from refinery fuel gas, from hydrocracker and hydrotreater offgas and from chemical processes such as methanol and ammonia production.

Main fields of activities of MTR are in petrochemical, natural gas, refinery, biogas pervaporation.
